| Does anyone have tips on removing stripped screws? I looked online but the tips given were for much larger screws. The screws on the bottom of my Fujitsu 1510 are tiny. I called up one of the authorized service centers and they wanted to charge me $125 to remove the screw since it was an "out-of-warranty" repair. I just bought this thing less than a month ago! |

| Check at the local Lowes or Home Depot. There is some "goop" (can't think of a better term) that you can put into a stripped screw head that will give you a better shot at removing the screw with a screwdriver. It basically increases the "grip". But be sure to get the right-sized screwdriver. |

I nearly did the same thing with one of the screws. One came out just fine, the other one started to strip so I tried a different set's small screwdriver. Still was stripping. Tried a third set (between eyeglasses, computers, and old sets from RC cars I have lots of tiny screw drivers ;-) small screwdriver that did work. While the other two appeared to be the right size and worked on one screw, the third fit the screws much better.
So I would suggest trying another set of tiny screwdrivers if the stripping isn't too far gone. |

You can rub your screwdriver with chalk. It increase tre friction with the screw and help in the extraction.

Yeah those do look cool, way better than drilling with older style EZ outs. I'll have to get me a set also! |

I use them in a simple hand driver (screwdriver kit with interchangable tips) and they have always worked for me.

Do most large Sears Stores stock them, or do you have to order them online? |

| Looks like I will be picking up that screw extractor set from Sears. Thanks for all the tips guys! BTW what would be the right size screwdriver? Is there a specific name for it? |

| I was able to get the cover off, but the head of the stripped screw is completely gone now! At least I was able to finally upgrade my memory. Do you think this would void my warranty? I don't see how it could as the laptop is fine except for the fact that the memory cover is a little bent. |

| Shouldn't void the warranty, IMO. But I'm not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV. :D |

Depending on how small screw head is, you can cut a notch in the head with a very fine hacksaw blade. Clamp screw in a vise between 2 small hardwood pieces & cut slot as in my above foto. Then you'll be able to use the screw with a small slot screwdriver. |
