The only way I could get the router and P to work with WEP was to program the router with another machine -- when I tried to program it with the P (starting with WEP turned off) I never got it to work, even though logically it ought to (change the router settings with WEP off, then change the P settings). Also, don't use Linksys' WEP key generator. Just enter a key. Finally, I've had a lot of difficulty with the P "forgetting" the WEP setting, defaulting to "get key automatically". I don't even understand why that setting exists -- what router uses a key and then gives it out? The only way I could stop the erroneous default is to remove the "preferred network" and then start over. I had the same problem with an Orinoco Gold card, so it isn't just my Linksys card.
